Bernadette C. Smith, M.Ed., is career educator and long time teacher of many things, most recently the art and science of meditation. She has a been practicing meditator for almost 30 years. For 10 years, she taught simple mindfulness practices to her public school students and saw for herself  the positive difference in her students’ behavior and interactions with one another. Her  colleagues noticed, too, asking for help, and soon she was educating other teachers and offering professional development in area school districts.Â
This led to working with a number of foundations to bring mindfulness to school communities, including parents, staff and students. Bernadette branched out, teaching mindful parenting/families, and mindful eating. She has been invited by many local libraries to introduce mindfulness. She works with preschool, elementary, middle, high school and college students, and adults; in other words she loves teaching mindfulness to anyone who is interested!
She has certification from Mindful Schools, Learning to Breathe, Friends Council on Education and has completed practicums and internships at Jefferson University, Penn Program for Mindfulness, and W. Chester University; most recently she completed training in trauma informed mindfulness.
When she’s not teaching, Bernadette hikes, reads, serves patrons at Tredyffrin Library, and travels. She and her husband also love spending time with their children and grandchildren.
