Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on technique that supports the body’s natural healing by working with the central nervous system. Using light touch, often no more than the weight of a nickel, practitioners help release tension in the tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
This subtle yet powerful therapy restores balance in the craniosacral system (which includes the skull, spine, sacrum, and cerebrospinal fluid), helping to ease physical discomfort, calm the nervous system, and support emotional well-being.
Cranial Sacral Therapy may offer support for a range of concerns, including headaches and migraines, neck and back pain, stress and anxiety, sleep disturbances, emotional tension or overwhelm, sensory or motor challenges, and even birth trauma in infants.
Especially Beneficial for Infants: CST is safe and deeply supportive for babies, whose nervous systems are still developing. It may help ease colic, digestive discomfort, sleep issues, nursing or latching challenges, and general fussiness. CST can also gently release tension in the jaw, neck, and cranial bones - areas that may affect a baby’s ability to latch, suck, and feed comfortably.
This is especially helpful for infants who experienced a fast or difficult birth, use of forceps or vacuum, tongue or lip ties (before or after revision), torticollis, or discomfort during feeding.
For lactating parents, CST offers subtle yet powerful support by calming the nervous system, which may help regulate hormones and promote milk flow. When the body is more relaxed and balanced, lactation often becomes easier and more sustainable. This gentle therapy nurtures the bond between parent and baby, creating more ease, comfort, and connection during feeding.
Sessions are noninvasive and deeply relaxing. Clients remain fully clothed and are invited to rest while the practitioner gently places their hands on key areas of the body to assess and support the craniosacral rhythm.
