Hi! I am Maureen and I have been teaching and practicing yoga since 2009.
My yoga journey began in 2006, when a friend invited me to attend a Kundalini yoga class. I loved it and it was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Actually, the thought of yoga had never really appealed to me before, as I was an avid equestrian for most of my life and yoga appeared to be too simplistic and not adventurous enough for me. I was completely unprepared and pleasantly surprised how yoga positively impacted my life.
Once riddled with debilitating anxiety, yoga provided me with the tool to create a “safe and sacred space” to rest my exhausted and overthinking mind. It was through my practice that I discovered how to quiet and center my mind. My practice opened me up to become an observer of myself while cultivating self-acceptance, compassion and a deeper knowing. According to the yogis, this is the purpose of life, to find your Self through all that life brings.
Pursuing my passion for yoga, I enrolled in teacher training to deepen my practice at YogaLife Institute in Devon, PA where I completed my 200-hour teacher training in 2009; and in 2012, I completed the 300-hour comprehensive yoga therapy training.
When not teaching or practicing yoga, I like to spend time with my two felines, and try to slip out into nature for a hike as often as possible. I also love gardening, creating art, reading, photography and traveling.
